Tim Sharp The Trapdoor (2005)
Film, 26 min, transfer from 9,5 mm, 8 mm, and Super 8 Film

In The Trapdoor (2005) Tim Sharp uses amateur film material from the years 1920 until 1990 and uses these to create new film. Due to his editing of the given material new contexts emerge, which owe their explosive effect to the fact that the used film sequences are unquestionably part of a subjectively experienced history as well as an expression of personal perception. Thus, the artist shows how memory is constructed and uses the means of the cinematic composition in a way which allows us to participate in it and makes us aware: There are no innocent pictures.
